About Capoeira Mandara
Capoeira Mandara was established with the vision of preserving and promoting authentic Capoeira traditions while simultaneously creating a global community of practitioners. Our journey began with a small group of dedicated students and has transformed into an international organization with schools on several continents.

Continuous Growth
We encourage continuous learning and personal development, understanding that the journey in Capoeira never truly ends.
Our History
Capoeira Mandara 'Capoeira Art-Fight Development Group' is a non-profit entity founded on November 30, 2007, in the city of Barcelona, Spain, by Luiz Gonzaga de Sá Junior (Mestre LuizJunior), who is the president of this entity. The group was born with the purpose of promoting Capoeira in all its segments, viewing Capoeira as Brazil's most important cultural manifestation and as a very important instrument in popular, social, and racial integration. Capoeira Mandara is a free and open entity for anyone regardless of race, class, gender, and age, currently being a very important entity in the dissemination of the art of Capoeira both nationally and internationally through courses, seminars, lectures, social projects, and practical and theoretical training. Today, the group is present in several Brazilian states and internationally in Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Spain, Italy, France, and the Netherlands.

The Capoeira Mandara group has the direct objective of spreading Capoeira as the philosophy of its work, whether seeking the development of the technical, theoretical, and didactic-pedagogical level of Capoeira as art, fight, culture, profession, and philosophy of life. We seek to rescue the appreciation of the true Masters of the 'Old Guard' as representatives of Capoeira and genuinely Brazilian traditional culture. We aim to contribute to the training of Capoeira professionals based on respect, discipline, socialization, dignity, and freedom of expression as citizens in society, seeking the enrichment of character, dignity, and personal appreciation. The Capoeira Mandara group seeks to develop Capoeira as an art-fight and culture in its athletes and practitioners.
Our Vision
Create a world where Capoeira is recognized as a powerful tool for personal transformation, social change, and cultural preservation.
Our Mission
Feeling and vibration, theoretical and practical teaching, family in constant union, perseverance and grit, social concern, cultural flexibility, humility, and courage.

Mestre LuizJunior — 37 years of history

Born on July 19, 1981 in Colinas do Tocantins, Brazil, Mestre LuizJunior began his capoeira journey in 1990 in Palmas Tocantins. His first contact with capoeira was through a class in a football field taught by Marcos Garcia Miranda, known in the capoeira world as Mestre Marcos ‘Cabeleira’. This was part of a project for underprivileged children in the then-new neighborhood of the new capital Palmas. In 1992, he received his first graduation in Capoeira with godfather Mestre Soldado, one of the finest Capoeira Masters of the time. In 1994, he represented the state of Tocantins and Tocantinense Capoeira in the Brazilian Student Games, achieving great success for capoeira and for the sport in Tocantins, ranking as the 4th best capoeirista in Brazil at that time. He began his professional life in capoeira in 1996, teaching classes to school children, forming his first group of students. As time passed, he also began teaching adults. In 2000, he joined Grupo Abada Capoeira, staying with this organization for a year. In 2007, he joined Grupo Muzenza briefly before founding his own group. Feeling the need for a new direction in his environment and in his life as a capoeirista, on November 30, 2007, he founded Grupo Capoeira Mandara in Barcelona, Spain. Today the group is a reality recognized in capoeira society worldwide, present in several countries including Brazil, Spain, Italy, France, Angola, Germany, Mozambique, and Portugal.
